Passing a HGV medical is a legal requirement for heavy good vehicle drivers to ensure both their safety and the safety of other drivers on the road.

Please read below to find what HGV medicals entail and how can you prepare for the appointment.

  • Make a Note of Past Medical Conditions and Current Treatments

  • The second part of the HGV medical examination consists of a physical exam. At this point Dr Hart will check your height and weight, heart rate, vision, hearing and potentially other senses and reflexes they feel effect your ability to drive a HGV vehicle.

  • Please bring any glasses/contacts with you to your appointment, as well as ID

  • Don’t worry, the examination is not as intrusive as it sounds - Dr Hart will try to make you as comfortable as possible for the duration of the appointment
